Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

This study was conducted under the framework of cooperation between Morocco Kingdom, and the Russian federation. The main objective of this investigation is to assess the status of the pelagic ecosystem and biological resources of the moroccan coastal atlantic waters, through the following points: -Water dynamics and upwelling intensity -Primary production and Chlorophyll 'a' analysis. -Zooplankton, Phytoplankton and Ichtyoplankton distribution. This cruise was held between 17.01.1994 and 08.02.1994, which covers the winter season, onboard of the russian research vessel 'AtlantNIRO'. 84 hydrographic stations were sampled, distributed among 23 transects (perpendicular to the coast). The transects are spaced by 30milles. Water samples were collected from different levels (0m to 1000m), depending on the maximum station depth.
