Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Within the SFB133 main programme 'The Warmwater Sphere', the outlfow of Mediterranean water into the North Atlantic was to be studied using new float technology. For this, a sound source mooring and two moored RAFOS floats were to be recovered and a number of acoustic tests with floats on the ship's wire were to be undertaken. In addition, some CTD and XBT measurements were planned. Unfortunately, one of two of the ship's engines broke. Therefore the cruise had to be terminated after 8 days at sea with an early port call in Lisbon, Portugal. Complied after the chief scientist's written report by Thomas J. Muller, IFM-GEOMAR, 21st January, 2011.
