Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Meteor 6 leg 7 was dedicated to the seasonal study phytoplankton and deep sea benthic processes at the BIOTRANS station (47? 30'N / 20?W) within the frame of the projects: BIOTRANS ( Biological carbon transport and energetics in the deep sea benthic boundary layer) PARFLUX (Particle flux) A transect of stations for geological studies was performed on the Celtic continental margin (Goban Spur) Within the frame of an EU-Project ( EURODEST, European Deep Sea Transect) the benthic boundary layer system of the Porcupine Abyssal Plain was studied. The cruise was diveded into two sublegs 7A and 7B. m21-7A started at Las Palmas (Canary Islands) and led to the BIOTRANS station and the Goban Spur transect. Leg 7A ended in Plymouth (UK) where leg 7B started. Investigations were then performed at the EU Station and BIOTRANS was revisited. m21-6 ended in Hamburg (Germany)
